Ron was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. His two brothers Rick and Randy are also Lutheran pastors. Ron attended Concordia Junior College in Ann Arbor Michigan, Fort Wayne Senior College in Fort Wanye, Indiana, and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating from Concordia Seminary in Exile in St. Louis. He did post graduate work at the Institute of Formative Spirituality at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, receiving a Masters of Spiritual Formation.
Most recently, Ron served as pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charleston, West Virginia. He served Trinity for 17 years. Before that he was pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Monessen, Pennsylvania for 11 years and before that he was pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Palatka, Florida for 7 years.
Ron has been married to his wife Vickie for 39 years and they have three children. Their son Dan, his wife Magda and their twin daughters Dena and Kristeen live in Alexandria, Virginia. Their son Tim, his wife Boryana and son Collin live in Orange City, Iowa. And their daughter Amanda lives in Huntington, West Virginia. Vickie is a registered nurse.
Ron’s passion is to end hunger. In 2009 he joined two other Lutheran pastors and visited all 65 synods of the ELCA on a bamboo triplet bicycle raising money for the Lutheran World Hunger Program and calling attention to wellness. Ron is concerned about the health and wellness of pastors and devotes time to the health and vitality of congregations.
