School Kits for Lutheran World Relief
Churches are asked to bring supplies towards making school kits as part of the ministry and mission of Lutheran World Relief. From LWR’s website:
Why school supplies? To the children who receive School Kits, these supplies mean the difference between getting an education or not. Public school is usually free, but in the places where LWR works, even a few required supplies, like pens and paper, may be more than many families can afford.
And when parents can only afford to send one of their children to school, girls rarely get priority…yet the education level of mothers has the biggest impact on development.
Here’s the list of supplies and the church assignments for each set of supplies:
- church names beginning with A-G – rulers, ballpoint pens
- church names beginning with H-R – boxes of 16/24 crayons
- church names who are “Saints” – blunt scissors, 70-page notebooks
- church names beginning with T-Z – pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers
Please consult the information on LWR’s website for specific requirements for each of the supply items.
People often ask how many they should bring of any specific item… Our answer: Please be generous! A good rule of thumb is to bring at minimum two of of each item for each person coming from your church. But start asking your church now – you’ll be amazed at the response!

Can you help us in the kitchen?
NorthBay serves all of its meals “family style” and keeps their costs low by asking groups to bring kitchen/dining room help with us. We’re looking for 25-30 adult (over age 18) to be able to serve in this way during the weekend. Click here for information and to contact Penny Sadler-Vocke who is coordinating this group of servant leaders for the weekend!
